Learn More about Sea Cliff Bridge

The Sea Cliff Bridge is a spectacular place that attracts onlookers from all walks of life, but especially selfie-takers.

Located in the northern Illawara, the bridge at $52 million, the 450-metre long, it stand against the Tasman Sea, up to 70 metres (230 feet) east of the original alignment of Lawrence Hargrave Drive. Completed in 2005, the Sea Cliff Bridge structure is a pre-stressed concrete box girder constructed using the balanced cantilever method with five spans. Adjacent to the Sea Cliff Bridge is the 210-metre (689-foot) Lawrence Hargrave Drive Bridge, which is often not considered two separate bridges. This latter girder bridge, built using the incremental launching method, has seven spans of 24 to 31 metres (79 to 102 feet) and shares a common pier with the Sea Cliff Bridge.

About an hour south of Sydney, the bridges have been a major tourist attraction since they opened in 2005. The area adjacent to the bridges features a scenic walkway surrounded by rocky cliffs that is a popular spot for love locks.
The iconic bridges attracted increasing numbers of tourists in the late 2010s due to social networking and online hiking blogs.
